Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/4 cup finely chopped red onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Burger buns (4)

Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and mayonnaise

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, red onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.

Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Chill (optional): If time allows, cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to help them firm up and hold their shape better during cooking.

Cook the Burgers: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken burgers to the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the burgers are golden brown.

Prepare Burger Assembly: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns in the toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Place each cooked burger on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Add your desired toppings, such as sliced tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and a spread of mayonnaise if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Plate the burgers and serve immediately with your favorite sides, like sweet potato fries or a fresh salad. Enjoy!
