White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers

Ingredients
  

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments (to serve)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken Mixture:

    In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated, but be careful not to overmix.

      Form the Patties:

        Divide the mixture into four equal parts and form them into patties about 3/4 inch thick.

          Cook the Patties:

            Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and they are golden brown.

              Toast the Buns:

                While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate skillet or toaster until they are lightly golden.

                  Assemble the Burgers:

                    Place each chicken patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and your choice of condiments. Cap with the top half of the bun.

                      Serve:
