Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 medium onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, minced

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Toss to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.

Prepare the Stir-Fry: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak in a single layer and sear for about 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions, red and green bell peppers, and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

Combine and Season: Return the steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar (if using). Stir everything together and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serve: Plate the sizzling pepper steak and vegetable stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
