Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into ½-inch rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Optional: a sprinkle of nutmeg or cayenne pepper for extra spice

Optional: chopped walnuts or pecans for garnish

Optional: scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam and bubble.

Add the brown sugar and cinnamon to the pan, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth.

Add the sliced bananas gently to the skillet, ensuring each piece is coated in the buttery cinnamon mixture.

Cook the bananas for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and slightly caramelized. Avoid overcrowding the pan; you may need to do this in batches.

Once the bananas are cooked, drizzle with vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, stirring gently to combine.

OPTIONAL: If you'd like to add a kick, sprinkle a little nutmeg or cayenne pepper over the mixture and stir gently.

Remove from heat and serve warm, topped with chopped walnuts or pecans and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
