Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

2 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

Cooked white or brown rice (for serving)

Optional: Kimchi for serving

Instructions

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat.

Once hot, add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally (about 5-7 minutes).

Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to combine.

Let the mixture simmer for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Stir in chopped green onions and sesame seeds, reserving some green onions for garnish.

Serve the Korean ground beef over cooked rice, garnished with additional green onions and sesame seeds. Add kimchi on the side if desired.
