Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, grated

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

4 green onions, chopped

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Sesame seeds for garnish

Kimchi (optional, for serving)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well until the beef is evenly coated and marinated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula or wooden spoon.

Cook the beef for about 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and lightly browned. Add chopped green onions and shredded carrots, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the carrots are tender.

Assemble your bowls by placing a scoop of cooked rice at the bottom. Top with the savory ground beef mixture, and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.

Serve hot with kimchi on the side, if desired.
