Chinese Beef and Broccoli

1 lb beef flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, grated

¼ cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon water

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Instructions
 

Prepare the Beef Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix well to coat the beef thoroughly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

    Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling water, add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 2 minutes until vibrant green. Remove and immediately place in ice water to stop cooking. Drain and set aside.

      Stir-Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

        Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the wok and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

          Combine Ingredients: In the same wok, add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Add back the cooked beef to the wok.

            Sauce it Up: Mix 1 tablespoon of water with any leftover marinade and pour it over the beef and broccoli in the wok. Stir well to combine everything, cooking for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
