Ingredients

1 package of refrigerated pizza dough (about 1 lb)

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 packet taco seasoning (about 1 oz)

1 cup refried beans

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

1/2 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned, drained)

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1/4 cup chopped green onions

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Salsa or guacamole (for dipping)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat.

Stir in the taco seasoning and follow packet instructions (usually adding a bit of water). Simmer for about 5 minutes until well combined and thickened.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to a rectangle (approximately 12x16 inches).

Cut the dough into long strips, about 4 inches wide.

Spread a thin layer of refried beans over each strip of dough.

Place a spoonful of the taco meat on top of the beans, followed by a sprinkle of diced tomatoes, black olives, green onions, and a generous amount of shredded cheese.

Fold each strip in half lengthwise to create a pocket and press the edges tightly to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for added security.

Place the filled sticks onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the taco sticks with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden color when baked.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with salsa or guacamole for dipping.
